Frequently Asked Questions
| Are there many rescues because I would like to give one a good home? |
|
In the general scheme of things, no. Of course there are always more than we'd like ... in an ideal world all Utes would go to fantastic, permanent homes at 8 weeks! All TUS registered breeders take responsibility for their pups for life and will take them back if required. If for any reason they are unable to do this, they should put you in touch with TUS's Welfare Co-ordinator. They hold a list of vetted foster carers and adopters, from which they will select the most suitable. Sadly Utonagan have started turning up in RSPCA and other rescue centres. Please contact us if you know of a Ute in care, often rescue centres are more than happy to hand dogs over to dedicated breed rescue/welfare services. Please bear in mind that not everything that looks a bit like a Utonagan actually is one. We always appreciate being informed, just in case, but sadly we do not have the facilities to extend our help beyond Utonagan dogs, much as we would love to! Anyone wanting to re-home a Utonagan, who for some reason cannot or has reason not to return it to the breeder, is welcome to contact the Society and we will do our best to help them re-home him or her. |
